Mt Hotham

Gippsland is a remarkable part of Australia but its wilderness and beautiful extremes have made it very vulnerable to the destruction of Climate Change. The past summer’s fires were devastating not only to the forests but the small coastal towns - who also face the prospect of rising sea levels.

I have a new album on my website, a mini exhibition of works concerned with these issues - MT HOTHAM.

In these works the ripped distressed tissue and the thin unfinished paint layers reflect the fragility of land and life. The real thaw on Mt Hotham is symbolic of the global temperature rise.

Hope and resilience can be seen in the bright green of new growth.

Lots of Visitors

The Open Studio was a great success, despite unseasonal weather! It was more like winter than early November. We all explained our various methods and enjoyed the interest of our visitors. Happily, we also had some sales! Thank you!

OPEN STUDIO!!!!

Matt Thomas, Margret booth and I will have open studios this weekend. There has been a bit of tidying up…a lot of tidying up, but it is still messy and we would love to see lots of people. !0 til 4 on Sat and Sun, 9th and 10th of November for anyone in the Maffra area. 292 and 323 Boisdale Street, Maffra.

New Work

Just finished a few more works related to Port Welshpool. I have had fun with my Japanese and Indian handmade papers and sunset is still a strong theme.

Japan

The exhibition is now down and some work has been sold! it has been wonderful to have had such a positive response about the work, thank you everyone.

I have now posted the rest on the website, so have a look.

My focus now will be thinking about our recent trip to India and seeing how I can respond artistically to what I have seen... that will be a challenge. It was a marvellous experience and such a feast for the eyes, and ears too. The traffic and horns were a bit different to dear old Maffra.

Last Days!

The exhibition at Briagolong will finish after this long weekend, so this is your last chance to see our paintings and pottery.

It is nearly here!

Only a couple of weeks to go and the Briagolong exhibition will be on. Marg has been working hard and produced some lovely sculptural pieces. She is still going... so I wouldn't be surprised to hear the pots still pinging on the day! I have finished my paintings, they are mainly focused on Japan, but there are some Port Welshpool ones for contrast.

Welcome

Welcome to my new improved website. (Thank you Laura for all your help!)

I have been busy working on a new series relating to our trip to Japan earlier this year. The blossom was amazing, but I was really captivated by the snow and the new work reflects this.

These works and others will be exhibited in early February in Briagolong. More details to follow later.

Here is a recent painting of Port Welshpool.
